America is 249 years old! Seems like just yesterday, George Washington was crossing the Delaware!! July 4th has just finished. I hope you were able to joyfully and safely celebrate the day with family and friends. Even with all the issues our country has, we still live in the greatest country to ever exist in the history of mankind! I’m extremely thankful for that.
Summer is in full swing! Contractors are busy with their projects and it’s hard to get anyone to call you back! Maybe your phones aren’t ringing as much as you would like? If that’s the case, reach out to your SmithCo sales representative, and let’s get some sales calls set up where we come out and make the rounds with you. We’re willing to do whatever you need us to do to help you succeed!
We are still taking orders weekly. Our current backlog is out until mid-September. While our order rate has slowed down, we are still seeing good activity on our website and we are quoting trailers. The Midwest seems to be the slowest area compared to the Western states, but we are very grateful for all that you do to move trailers!
As I write this letter, President Trump just announced the possibility of more tariffs. We’re keeping a close eye on how tariffs will affect our costs. Make no mistake…SmithCo is being affected and will be affected more as time goes on. At this time, we have no plans to raise prices due to tariffs. We will keep an eye on this and will be in communication with you far in advance if we are forced to do anything. Let’s all hope that these trade deals get hammered out, and this all goes away soon!
I hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer and take time to get away from work for a while. Football season will be here before you know it, and all that’s wrong with the world will be made right (at least through the playoffs)!
