Make Sure You Have Trailers to Sell —
Place Stock Orders

Scott Lovell,

President and CEO

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that all of you enjoyed your Christmas holiday season and are now back into full-time SALES mode!

The end of 2024 and the start of 2025 have been very positive at SmithCo. Our quote and order rates have increased over the same time-period last year. We anticipated this increase and spent a good portion of 2024 increasing our production capacity to meet the increased sales demands. We were able to produce a decent amount of “stock” units in 2024 and put them in our trailer yard for quick turnarounds.

Many of you have placed stock orders with us to ensure that you will have trailers when you need them. This is the best way to guarantee that you will have trailers to sell. We sell the stock units from our yard on a first come, first serve basis. There’s no way to guarantee that there will be trailers left in our yard when you need one, so having them on our Production Schedule is your best option. If you haven’t placed your orders, it’s imperative that you do so soon.

Our experience tells us that the chances of you selling trailers increases greatly if you have units on the ground in your yard. Failing to have adequate stock in your yard(s) or in our production pipeline could negatively affect your ability to serve your customers’ needs, forcing them to go elsewhere. We can help you determine how many trailers you should have on the ground and in our production pipeline. Just reach out to your SmithCo sales representative for assistance.

Just before I started writing this newsletter article, I held a company meeting on the plant floor. I shared with them my optimism for 2025 and what it will take for SmithCo to achieve the aggressive goals we have set. You are a vital part of our 2025 goals. We want you to know that we view ourselves as being vital to your 2025 goals as well. We are here to do whatever we can to help you achieve your goals. We count it a privilege to be in partnership with all of you!

Here's to everyone achieving their goals in 2025! Let’s get to work!!!

Best Regards,

Introducing The Brute CP30 and more!

Todd Karolczak,
Director of Sales & Marketing

Manufacturer's Representatives

You may have seen our December 30 press release regarding SmithCo’s signing of two new Manufacturer’s Representatives. We welcome A&H Equipment Co (Alabama) and Kohlhof Trailer Solutions (Nebraska) to the SmithCo sales cadre!

A Manufacturer’s Rep is different from a Dealer. They do not buy and resale our trailers. Instead, they help facilitate a deal where we sell directly to the customer. In return, the rep then gets a commission once the trailer is paid for. We just don’t have the sales force to contact everyone, so the rep helps us get the product and messaging in front of more people. In this case, Jake & Brad Biddle with A&H have many contacts in the poultry industry. They are going to help us introduce the side dump concept in the southeast U.S. Even their own engineers for the Circle A feed trailers they build had never heard of a side dump trailer before! Kenny Kohlhof has many contacts in the cattle industry, so he will help us grab some market share from the Sidump’r trailers manufactured in Nebraska.

The Brute

Brute Logo TM V1

Speaking of press releases, you will soon be hearing about our New & Improved CP30. Not only have we upgraded the trailer, we are branding it as well. This version will be Known as The Brute, accompanied by our new rhino logo with SmithCo Diamond eye. The literature and website are being updated, and we will be continuing our CP30 marketing campaign to companies who do site prep along with other off-road dirt work.

Quotes & Orders

SmithCo sales activity has been heating up! Our quoting activity in the 4th Qtr. 2024 was the strongest of the previous eight quarters. Overall in 2024, we quoted 41% more trailers than we did in 2023. New orders received were up 30% over 2023.

The following map gives an indication of the breadth of the SmithCo product line. The Yellow Pins represent locations where trailers were quoted. The Blue Dots indicate End User locations for new orders. (If there are multiple trailers destined for one location, the map still only shows one pin or dot). The more we can gather end user locations from you or through Warranty Registrations, the more accurate our blue dots will be in the future. I can send you a more detailed look at your territory if you like.
